Totally agree with this.
When you're being the mean bitch, everybody talks behind your back and everyone takes this opportunity to grab a chopper, a knife, or even a pencil - just to stab you in the back and bring you down (in order to climb up!).
After the bitching, life moves on. You are one happy person getting less work done, yet no blame.
When you're being the kind soul to be happily helping everyone's request (when you feel guilty about rejecting them or no power to), everyone will think the same way..
"XXX is very nice one. She will help you. Ask her do it lah! Or would you rather stay behind to do it?"
Just reject them. Easier said than done. Because a 'politically incorrect' response would result in 'political unrest' consequence.

Yup. It is true that it doesn't pay to be kind. But think about it in another way,by helping other people, u are learning something. It can make u do ur work better.
For me, I always help people becoz it is my job. But in the end, I always got complaints and complaints. Sometimes I do think why I must help them when they go and complaint after seeking help from us.
In short, u may help people by doing their work or giving them advice. Whether or not they wanna learn or listen is another thing. Becoz in the end, they are at the losing end as they won't learn anything by asking other people to complete their task. But you on the other hand will gain experience and knowledge. Think about it this way and you will be a much happier person. Cheers!!
