A new phase

A new phase has taken over by now, having new fond times burying the bygones; like snow submerging the maple leaves in Westonbirt Arboretum, as winter supercedes autumn.

Another year is almost half over, with majority of people back to schooling life, while I am setting one foot into the working world soon. Some even have great dreams to fulfil elsewhere in other continents of the world.

Couples with life goals on different grounds have split up, and singles have found their way to the one they truly love. Knots were tied for those who have been through the odds hand in hand, while others have not found the courage to tie loose ends. No matter which situation we were in, it's another phase in our life again. And it seemed like, it had been a pretty good one for me so far. :)

As the years go by, we tend to take things for granted. Birthday celebrations were reduced into smaller scales each year, friends start highlighting flaws in each another and we don't meet as often as we used to. Lovers forget what brought them together in the start, friends forget how they've come a long way till this day, families forget how often they have not cared for one another.

A thought that strike me to pen this down when a friend of mine was thrashing complains to me. It wasn't the contents that mattered this time, but it was the emotional state he was at when we were messaging.

I wasn't even thinking who was right or wrong, all I ever did was smiled.

He wasn't holding back any rage; just like when my other half was venting anger at me when he was vexed; just like when my mum was mad at me for coming home late; or even, Giorgio for chewing my slipper into bits when I neglected him for a long time.

It occured to me that, he was reacting this way because of how much he cared for the group, how much he felt the uneasiness of us not being as close anymore, how much he wanted things to be on track. He wasn't even holding back the vulgarites. Lol. Which is really fine to me, least it meant he was comfortable enough to show his uglier side.

Just like when my boyfriend vent anger at me even though it wasn't my fault because he knew he could only reveal his worse side to people he is close to. Just like my mum being mad at me for coming home late because of how much she cared. And just like Giorgio, for how much he wished I was paying attention to him instead.

This kinda hit me; thinking how often we've taking things for granted. How we've forgotten, there are many others who used to hold a significant position in our hearts. Where have we placed them today? It is barely enough just to admit how dispensable they've become; that unknowningly, we've replaced them with only a few others. It is important that actions show how much we still care, depsite our busy and exciting our lives are currently. eh? :)
