Thirst for knowledge

It's the mid of March; pretty much survived it. Except for my first mid-term tests, achieving a fantastic score of ..

fifty percentile.

I was really disappointed because I expected myself to do so much better. Least a seventy percentile.

Ah. Enough of the boring stuff. Poor Edwin couldn't find any sense of relief here during his stressful project assignments. My complains are almost mirroring yours. :P

Anyway, I was sick bored finishing up my business communication report so I took off to my neighbourhood library for a break. I was browsing around; from Pets to Health and fitness books, India's booming industry to IDOIT's guide to Computers. It just felt like a knowledge wonderland - a place I feel inclined towards, for once. I seriously have little interest in reading books on economy and society. And ironically, the first book that caught my attention was a book on China - From the Opium Wars to World Power.

I picked it up and started reading its index page, flipped to the first chapter and there it was. The Middle Kingdom. The title that has never failed to charm me since I was 13. I enjoyed reading about China's history, the imperial system and dynasties, the medieval flowering of Chinese civilization ended when Song Dynasty collapsed in 1279. This follows a long bitter decade of struggle between the Mongols ( Genghis and Kublai Khan) of the Yuan Dynasty. Thereafter, was the rebuilding of Great Wall and Grand canal during the Ming Dynasty. So on and so forth. . .

The vasity of China's history has so much to offer; a great story that traces back to the very roots of who are today, as a chinese. It's really interesting, go read up :]

As I picked up the first book, I walked down the aisle to look for another book. In the midst of the calming whisper of the air-conditioner, I heard a gentle yet goofy growl near the back of my right ear. It wasn't spooky enough to shock me, but it felt really ... stupid. I turned around and found this secondary school boy in blue shorts and white shirt in his geeky glasses, standing right beside me. He gave me a "uh uh,not-me" look. I went back into my search and just 3 seconds after, there was the growl again. Almost immediately, I turned around and he said, " Don't scarreedd..Don't scared."

My right brow raised quizzically and stared right into his eyes, almost telepathy-ing him to stay back. He just repeated, "Don't scarreedd."

(-.-")..

He followed me for awhile until I saw Dan. A psstttt.... managed to drive that whimsical dork away.

Uh! What the hell.

I'm safely back home, with three books! *jumping with glee!* One on China's Revolution, one on Peloponnesian war and one on The First Empires.

Ha. Speaking of 'insufficient time to study". . . Come on! The moment I open my textbook, it's so so so much more dull and boring! ;) I'll keep you guys updated about my reads again.

Prison break tomorrow! :)
